beauty, collection, rimmel, tanya bear, make up, affordable make up

You can't go wrong with affordable make up. Don't get me wrong, I do love my high end brands and sometimes it is worth investing to get the end, desired result. But sometimes, the affordable high street make up is just as good as that £30 foundation. When I first started this blog, I wanted to post about the affordable alternative, whether that was about make up products or fashion. I wanted to post about how you don't have to spend a fortune to desired look. And although I have a job and sometimes I will spend a little more money, I always find myself going back to the trusty affordable items.

In this post I'll be sharing with you those beauty must haves each under £10. Like hello??? Bargain. These products cover everything you need for a full face of make up.

Starting with concealer first, I'm a newbie to the Lasting Perfection concealer by Collection but holy cricket where has this been all my life?! Before the collection concealer became a part of my life I was using concealers that I wasn't 100% happy with, they'd do the job and then the more I used it, the less I started to see a difference. There's some days I don't wear a face full of make up, concealer and a little powder will do me but I found other concealers wouldn't cover me and I would have to wear foundation to look a lil' presentable. And then this little gem made an appearance. I had seen Zoe (Zoella) talk about it in numerous videos but I kinda brushed it aside, stupidly thinking a concealer costing so little could do the job. How wrong was I??? Ever since I bought this, as cliché as it sounds, I've never looked back. It's definitely the best drugstore concealer out there, in my eyes anyway. It does exactly what you want a concealer to do and it means I can now go out of the house wearing just concealer and a little powder, giving my skin a little break.

Foundation is obviously a key part in a full face of make up and I love trying out new foundations (being also very wary of my sensitive skin) and I do stick to the drugstore foundations due to the fact I don't really want to spend £25+ on a high end foundation for me to be allergic to it. I've tried numerous drugstore foundations, more recently the Max Factor 3 in 1 face finity and I just didn't like it. Also I think I'm allergic to it anyway so I went back to my trust Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation. I can't say I agree with the 25 hour part as I've never worn make up for that long. But after a full days work, I come home and take my make up off, there's still remnants of the foundation, which tbh is pretty amazing for a drug store foundation. This Rimmel foundation has a very good coverage and covers up any of those pesky blemishes.

Next up is another product from Collection. The Contour Kit, Highlight and Sculpt is always in my day to day make up bag (although I don't wear it every single day) but if I'm going somewhere nice, I'll put extra effort in to my make up and give myself some cheekbones. I don't wear it to work as I don't want to clog my skin up especially when I'm on a long shift and running round like a headless chicken! I bought this on a whim, wanting to try it out and again not expecting much as it wasn't pricey, but yet again I was proved wrong. Both contour and highlight are super pigmented so I always build up if the contour isn't enough rather than put loads on my brush all at once.

You may have come to the conclusion that Rimmel is my favourite drugstore brand... and you're probably right. I feel mascara especially can instantly change a look. Until you've put mascara on, I personally think a make up look never looks finished.  This Wake Me Up mascara literally wakes you up and like I said completes your make up look. It also has vitamins and cucumber extract to help keep lashes conditioned all day!

On to probably my favourite product of all 5 products featured. I used to use an eyeshadow out of a MUA eyeshadow palette for my eyebrows and then when that ran out, I didn't want to buy a new palette just for the sake of one shade. So I'd been on the hunt for an eyebrow palette in powder form, as I'm not 100% keen on the wax ones. So when my local Superdrug had Tanya Burr's eyebrow palette back in stock, I had to purchase it. The palette contains 3 shades and a highlighter. I use Hot Cocoa on my eyebrows and if I want extra definition, I will add a little highlight underneath. This palette can also double as eyeshadow palette, to add that little extra to your make up look.

So this is a round up of my beauty must haves each product under £10! There's many hidden gems in your high street store. Look out for them next time, it might just save you a lot of money!

  1. I love the Lasting Finish foundation but they don't have it in my shade. I got the lightest one and wore it for about a week and loved it but one day I realised it was wayy too dark and pink for my skin. I also really wanna try the Lasting Perfection concealer but we don't have Collection where I live and I don't know if it's available online, haven't checked the Boots website yet.
