My Top 5 Eyshadow Palettes

Sunday, January 24, 2016

I can't be alone when I say I have A LOT of eyeshadow palettes within my make up collection. I can't resist an eyeshadow palette. There's just something about them, whether it is the mixture of shades and textures that excite me, I'm not sure. For me, it isn't the brand that attracts me. Even before I started this blog I always bought what ever make up I could afford. So when I started this blog and eventually got a job, I still wanted to carry that on and that hasn't changed. Don't get me wrong I do sometimes have a lil' splurge and buy the more expensive make up products, but the cheaper, more affordable brands are still my favourite. Over the past year I've found some eyeshadow palettes that I've fallen in love with and I thought it was about time I shared them with you. This blog post is for everyone, whatever your budget, as it has a mixture of high street and higher end palettes.

First up in the MUA Elysium Elements Palette. This palette includes a mixture of pink, nude and a few darker shades which can either be used on their own or doubled up to create a more interesting look. This palette was just £6.00, which I think is an absolute bargain compared to some of the make up palette's out there at the moment. Although on the cheaper side all 10 shades are very pigmented.

One of my affordable eyeshadow palette's that I love is The Nudes palette by Maybelline. If you looked through my eyeshadow collection you'll notice a lot of nude palettes. Nudes are my go to and this is my favourite nude palette. This nude palette is a mixture of 12 nudes with 4 different textures all within 1 palette. What more can you want? I've found myself reaching for this particular palette more than the expensive ones as there is so much choice in such a small palette. All the shades are super pigmented and can be used for a day or night time look. A little bonus for me is that on the back there is a little guide on which colours to use together, from duos, trios and quads.

Next up is the Naked Smoky palette by Urban Decay. When I found out this was being released back in July I knew I had to buy it. I was always reluctant to pay a lot of make up and even though I know 9 times out of 10, the dearer it is, the better quality it is, I'm very stingy with spending money but this time I thought sod it and I still don't regret it. It's such a beautiful palette, which consists of 9 new shades and 3 shades from previous Naked palettes. If you're unsure on which Naked palette to purchase to kick off your UD collection, I would recommend this particular palette! I wrote a review of the Naked Smoky palette, read it here.

Once you buy one UD product, there's no going back. So when I walked into my local Debenhams and saw this palette on display, I couldn't walk out of the store without it. I actually thought there was a sale on everything in the store, so long story short the sale wasn't on make up but I still bought the palette. I love how the palette consists of neutral and jewel like shades to mix things up. I always tend to stay away from the bold colours but these colours are just too beautiful not to try out! My go to shades in this palette are Steady which is like a shimmery rose gold (of course it's my favourite) and Punk which is a dark burgundy matte shade.

My new favourite eyeshadow palette is the Charlotte Tilbury The Dolce Vita. I bought this the other month along with the Glastonberry lipstick and the matching lip liner in the shade Bad Romance. I've been wanting these particular CT products for so long and couldn't resist any longer. I couldn't use this product for so long as it looked too pretty to used but eventually I finally used it and I'm so impressed. I don't know if anyone else has this feeling, but when a product is so hyped by everyone else I kinda pull back and wonder if I will be as impressed by the product as everyone else is. And to give you an answer, I definitely am! Each eyeshadow is super pigmented which means you don't have to apply heaps for you or everyone else to notice. Although I've been and will continue to reach for this particular palette leading up to Summer, I feel this is the go to palette for Autumn/Winter with the berry and rose gold tones.  My personal favourites from the palette are Prime and Smoke. With each shade you can create a desk to disco look, which I think is pretty cool that just within 4 shades you can create different looks, for different times of the day no matter what you're doing.

What are your favourite eyeshadow palettes?

  4. I'm a bit of a sucker for eyeshadow palettes too - there's something addicting about them, plus who doesn't want a gorgeous collection to show off?! The MUA one is stunning looking, I think MUA is good quality for the price you pay however, doesn't receive enough coverage here in the blogging world. The maybelline palette looks good though xx

    1. I agree with you 100%. MUA don't get enough coverage in the blogging world and it is a shame. Such good quality makeup for so cheap as well! x
